Hello there!

Welcome dear reader

I’m writing this journal as a record of my travels overseas and I hope you will be both informed and entertained. I have been an armchair traveller for most of my life but in early 2012  (to the amazement of my friends) I took time out to spend three months in Cambodia, Singapore and Australia before returning to that beautiful part of Yorkshire which I’ve called my home for the last 35 years. Once home, and with no ties, my itchy feet got the better of me and I completed my application to go overseas as a volunteer with VSO hoping that I might perhaps be sent back to South East Asia. Three months later my application was accepted and it now looks as though I will be leaving these shores in early March 2013, but for West Africa, not Asia. This then is the starting point of my blog although the seed was sown some months earlier in an apple pickers’ hut in the Huon Valley, Tasmania.

The links on the right lead to my blog and to other pages which I may add from time to time, and I hope you won’t hesitate to contact me by email if you have any comments to make on what I have written.

  1. Good to see you lovely one. Hope the travels are soon to be experienced. I am looking forward to hearing all your news and becoming an arm chair traveller through you.
Remember to take films that make you laugh – best medicine ever. Hugs Ednie
